About Brian

Commander Brian Johnston DPh, MHA  is the Principal Pharmacy Informatics Consultant under the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) at Indian Health Service (IHS) Headquarters Office of Information Technology (OIT). He is responsible for advising the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) on opportunities to improve the utilization of information systems supporting pharmacy and other clinical disciplines with modernization efforts surrounding Path Electronic Health Record. CDR Johnston has held a number of leadership, administrative, clinical, and technical positions at multiple tribal organizations over his 22 years as a USPHS Commissioned Officer. Immediately prior to joining OIT, CDR Johnston served as Director of Ancillary Services at the Chickasaw Nation Department of Health, where he was responsible for all clinical diagnostic services and the informatics program. Prior to that he served tribal facilities across Oklahoma as Clinic Director, Chief Pharmacist, Clinical Applications Coordinator and clinical/staff Pharmacist, and directed multiple projects around clinical programs, facility operations, clinical informatics and modernization solutions. CDR Johnston is a proud member of the Chickasaw Nation.
