Can I simply trust and rely on my vendors and service providers to simply "have that covered"? In this session our presenters will discuss Data Sovereignty in Native American Tribes focused on the best practices and information pertinent to using cloud solutions. The main objective is to provide information on how Tribal IT successfully navigate using cloud solutions while managing and protecting their data, and highlight the potential risks and challenges associated with various cloud solutions/providers. Amy Capelli

Controller

Bay Mills Indian Community

BIO
Amy Cappelli, Controller for Bay Mills Indian Community.  I started my career in Tribal Government/Enterprise with the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians, in 1996, it was here that I grew with the organization and this lead to a  career of 23 years with 15 of them as one of their Senior Accountants. I worked on various businesses/internal services/grants/trust and agencies, but  my passion was in business/inventory/PoS and IT connectivity.   The synching of the component pieces to make a stream line system that could be used throughout the organization.  Technology and change, are always at the forefront of what I am doing, and currently that is a new accounting system install for Bay Mills.  This will allow them to be a near paperless community/business while enhancing many areas of finance availability for Council and Management.
