Dr. William Paiva, PhD, MBA, is the author of Life in the Middle Seat, founding Executive Director of the Center for Health Systems Innovation at Oklahoma State University, and Founder and Managing General Partner of the Oklahoma Life Science Fund. At CHSI, he leads efforts to transform rural and Native American health, including the Institute for Predictive Medicine, which applies advanced analytics to the nation’s largest clinical database of over 100 million patients. Through OLSF, Dr. Paiva has spent the past 25 years investing in some of the most transformative healthcare companies in the industry.
With more than two decades of experience spanning venture capital, management consulting, academia, and investment banking, he brings a unique perspective at the intersection of science, business, and innovation. Holding a Ph.D. in molecular biology from the University of Oklahoma and an MBA from Dartmouth College, Dr. Paiva’s career reflects a consistent theme: creating opportunities where others see barriers, and discovering connection at the edge of comfort zones.
