What Is the National Tribal Cyber Challenge?

A cybersecurity challenge built for those working at tribal governments, tribal gaming & hospitality properties, tribal health care facilities, and tribal enterprises.

The National Tribal Cyber Challenge is a virtual Capture the Flag (CTF) event designed to bring together tribal technology professionals, cybersecurity teams, students, and emerging cyber talent for a hands-on experience that tests skills, encourages collaboration, and strengthens cyber resilience.

Participants will solve real-world challenges across cybersecurity disciplines while connecting with peers who share a commitment to protecting tribal communities and enterprises.

Event Overview: Disarm Me: Hack, Decrypt, Disable

Step into the role of an ethical hacker in WWT’s Cyber Range and put your cybersecurity skills to the test. In this immersive Capture the Flag (CTF) experience, participants will investigate a hostile environment, uncover clues, overcome technical challenges, and work through realistic attack scenarios designed to mirror techniques used by today's adversaries.

While players will register and compete individually, collaboration and community learning are strongly encouraged. Participants can discuss approaches, share insights, and learn from one another as they progress through the experience, creating an engaging environment that balances competition with collective problem solving. The event is designed to provide hands-on learning in a safe, virtual environment using real-world cybersecurity concepts and tools.

Disarm Me is a hands-on cybersecurity challenge that tasks participants with navigating a simulated attack scenario from initial discovery through objective completion. Along the way, players will enumerate systems, uncover vulnerabilities, escalate privileges, decrypt clues, and solve challenges that build upon one another to reveal the final objective.

Each participant plays independently and earns points on an individual leaderboard. Collaboration and peer learning are encouraged throughout the event, creating an engaging experience that balances friendly competition with knowledge sharing.

What to Expect

Participants may encounter activities involving common cybersecurity tools and techniques, including:

Metasploit, Meterpreter, SQLMap, Burp Suite, Dirbuster, Wfuzz, DNS tools, John the Ripper, Hashcat, Nmap, Steghide, Ghidra, GDB, and Strings.

No prior experience with every tool is required. Success comes from curiosity, problem solving, research, and collaboration.

WWT provides hands-on learning paths to get familiar with the tools and prepare for the game.
