Whitney Chaves

Whitney Chavez is the Director of Information Technology at Desert Diamond Casino where she has led the IT department for the past 3 years. She is a member of the Tohono O’odham Nation from the Sells District. With more than 15 years of experience in Gaming and IT, she began her career as an intern and has steadily advanced through all aspects of the department to become its Director. As a woman in technology, Whitney has been an advocate for representation and growth within the field, particularly in industries where women and POC are underrepresented. She brings a unique perspective to the intersection of technology, operations and organizational strategy, drawing on her deep institutional knowledge as well as her forward looking approach to innovation.

Whitney is passionate about creating pathways for others, mentoring the next generation of tribal and women leaders in technology and using innovation to strengthen tribal enterprises. Currently pursuing her MBA at the University of Arizona, she combines technical expertise with business strategy to drive growth, representation and community impact.

Outside of her work, Whitney is a proud mother of three and loves watching her kids in their various sports with her husband. She also enjoys playing volleyball and spending time at the beach, where she finds balance and inspiration.
